Research Update: Privileged Logics at WMU
Finalizing grant and research work with the Center for the Study of Ethics in Society
Over the past semester, I had the great experience of working with colleagues at Western Michigan University, alongside members of Center for the Study of Ethics in Society team, on a National Science Foundation-funded project called “Privileged Logics: Interrogating Foundations and Practices in Research Ethics” (Award No. #2316197).
Privileged Logics aims to raise awareness about issues of privilege in research ethics, generate useful concepts for understanding them, and identify broadly applicable recommendations for addressing them that build on inclusive mentoring and other promising practices that already exist in research ethics.
I had a research assistant appointment which finished at the end of the spring 2025 semester. One major part of this work was relaunching a blog, now found at privilegedlogics.com.
The team is also taking contributions, and interested individuals can find more info here.
I really enjoyed continuing my work in ethics, equity, and public communication, and excited to see the future of projects like these.
